Beauty Beat: Parlux 2Q Profits Down 20 Percent... Beiersdorf Operating Profits Increase... CVS Addresses Merger Dispute
Net income of fragrance marketer Parlux fell 20 percent to $3.5 million in the second quarter ended Sept. 30, from $4.4 million in the same period a year ago, due to lower gross margins and expenses such as royalties, warehousing and interest, the firm said this week.

Sears Holdings Corp. is building up a big cash cache, as well as fatter profits, despite softer sales.
Eddie Bauer Misses Expectations
Eddie Bauer Holdings Inc. said preliminary sales results for the fourth quarter and full-year periods showed a 1.1 gain and a decline of 4.5 percent, respectively. Management said results were below expectations.
Diesel Wins Injunction in Copyright Case
Diesel U.S.A. won a permanent injunction and final judgment on consent against Chic Lady Ltd. and its owner, Michael Kamali, for copyright infringement.
TPG to Sell 7.5 Million Shares of J. Crew
J. Crew Group Inc. said Wednesday that one of its shareholders, Texas Pacific Group, would be offering 7.5 million shares of the retailer's common stock, and that none of the proceeds from the sale will go to J. Crew.
Italy's Fashion Sales Rise in 2006
A surge in domestic demand in the second half of 2006 helped Italy's fashion industry report a 6 percent growth in sales last year to $88.36 billion.
Malden Mills Files Chapter 11
Malden Mills Industries, maker of Polartec polyester fleece, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as a precursor to selling the firm to Gordon Brothers Group for $44 million.
Holiday Sales Sparkle at Tiffany & Co.
Tiffany & Co. posted robust holiday sales Wednesday, and said it was looking at opening at least 15 stores this year.

Burberry to Close Factory
Burberry has decided to shutter its factory in Treorchy, Wales, because the plant is no longer commercially viable.
